CYA U16: Deanna Buenzow
The Chicago Young Americans are proud to announce that U16 defenseman Deanna Buenzow has committed to play her NCAA hockey at Dartmouth for the 2022/23 season. “There’s nothing more exciting than seeing a player who started their career as a first year U12 grow into a highly sought after NCAA prospect,” commented Cimba. “Deanna is a special kid whose work ethic both on the ice and in the class room is what opened the Ivy doors. She has earned the incredible honor of playing for coach Schuler, Team Canada’s head coach, at the Big Green. I am so excited for her and the entire Buenzow family.” Buenzow came off a banner year last season where she was part of CYA’s Bronze medal winning U14 team. She’s brought that will to win to this years U16’s. “I am so excited with my decision to play for coach Schuler,” said Buenzow. “I fell in love with Dartmouth the moment I visited. The school embraces everything I could ask for in a college. A hockey program with a great history, academics that are amongst the top in the nation and school who embraces my love for the outdoors. I can’t thank my family enough for all you do. You’ve all supported me every step of the way and I know I couldn’t have done any of this without you. I also want to thank my teammates. When people ask me what makes CYA so special, one word comes to mind – family. My team, the program it’s all a family who is there for you through it all.”
Buenzow is gearing up for a big finish this season as CYA’s U16’s look to make their mark down the stretch.
