CYA U19:: Katie Devine
CYA is proud to announce their 2nd NCAA commitment of the 2018-19 season. Forward Katie Devine has decided to continue her academic and athletic career at St. Mary’s University, who is a part of the high powered MIAC hockey conference. The Cardinals play their games on campus at the SMU Ice Arena and they are coached by Greg Moore who is in his 2nd season behind the bench for SMU. “There’s nothing more exciting then to see a player who began their Tier 1 career at CYA as a U12, getting a chance to live their dream in the NCAA,” commented Cimba. “Devine has a lot of offensive talent, her hard nosed approach to the game combined with the tempo she likes to play at, are going to translate beautifully at the next level. She is also hungry to learn more which will result in even greater development to her game. Devine, I’m so proud of what you’ve acomplished.” Katie is very excited to not only play for SMU but to also be attending such an outstanding academic school as well. “I would like to thank my entire family for all their support over the years, giving me the opportunity to play hockey and being there for me through the ups and downs as I worked to reach my dream of playing in the NCAA,” said Katie. “A special thanks to my teammates for believing in me and pushing me everyday to improve. I am so excited to continue my academic and athletic career at such an amazing school and I can’t wait to be part of their student community and one of Coach Moores student athletes,” With almost a full season still to go, Coach Cimba will be looking to lean heavily on Devine the rest of the way as the U19’s have their sights set on returning to the National Championship.
Way to go Devine!!!
