Palatine, IL - -Chicago Young Americans (CYA) defenseman Andrew Strathmann has signed a tender agreement with the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Tri-City Storm for the 2021-2022 season! Strathmann joined CYA this season and has appeared in thirty games with the organization this season. He has scored eight goals and recorded twenty assists. Strathmann is 6’1’’, 165 lbs and is set to join the Storm for the 2021-2022 USHL season.
“Signing with the Tri-City Storm is a great opportunity, I’m excited to play for supportive coaches who have already helped me a lot. My coaches at CYA have also been great, they are very supportive, and their attention to detail is great. A lot of people might see the offensive side of my game, but I am solid defensively too. It is something that I have worked on a lot and it is becoming a big part of my game. Playing in the USHL next season will be a challenge, I’ll have to get used to the speed, but I’m excited to share the locker room with older, more mature guys, who will help me out through my first year. I’m excited to join the Storm organization!” Defenseman Andrew Strathmann
“We are thrilled for Andrew and his family on his opportunity to tender with the Tri-City Storm. Andrew has been an exemplary student-athlete in our program and has worked tirelessly to put himself in this situation. It was clear from the start of our summer development program that Andrew had the tools, character, and most importantly the drive to want to grow and develop and has bought into everything we do here at CYA. Our mission is to create a clear path to player development that will allow all of our athletes to maximize their potential on and off of the ice. Our Director of Skill Development, Karl Linden, has done an extraordinary job putting a plan in place that allows athletes like Andrew to really add layers to their game and put themselves in a position to stand out amongst their peers. We constantly stress that our student-athletes need to be great teammates, have an unrivaled work ethic, and are extremely coachable. Andrew is the perfect example of a player that fits this mold, and a role model to our entire organization. Congratulations to all of the Strathmann family on achieving this milestone.” Hockey Director Ryan Ward
“We were extremely impressed by his development with CYA over the last several months and feel he is just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential as a player. Of course, it is an absolute thrill to see Andrew go on to achieve success at the highest levels of hockey. We are excited to see our development process having such an immediate impact in the Illinois hockey community and we cannot wait to watch Andrew develop throughout our organization well into the future. This is an exciting time for Andrew, his family, and CYA Hockey.” President- Mark Jalcovik
