The Chicago Young Americans are proud to announce that defenseman Alex Collins has committed to play NCAA Hockey at Augsburg University. Augsburg is located in Minneapolis, MN and plays in the highly competitive MIAC. “Over the years I’ve watched players make decisions about where they want to play their college hockey,” commented Cimba. “Finding that perfect fit isn’t always easy. But let me tell you, Collins and Augsburg, the fit couldn’t be any more perfect.” Cimba went on to say, "I can’t tell you how excited we all are for her. We’ve had a chance to watch her grow as a player both on and off the ice these last couple of years. Seeing how quickly she transitioned up to 19’s only supports our belief in how much upside there is to her game.”
“After meeting Coach Mac and Holmes, seeing the campus and meeting the team, I knew that Augsburg was where I wanted to be,” commented Alex. “The similarities to Auggies overall approach to the game is so much like CYA that it just felt like home. I want to thank my team mates, you all keep me laughing and motivated at the same time. Most importantly I want to thank my parents. Dad, it was your guidance that led me to CYA and helped me understand how important being in the right place is. Mom, you have never wavered in your support for me. Thank you both for believing in me.”
There’s still a lot of hockey to be played this season and the CYA U19’s will be leaning heavily on Alex down the stretch.
