Coaching Updates-CYA 05 Bantam Major

The Chicago Young Americans would like to proudly announce the following organizational changes within the 05 Boys Bantam Major Team.

Nikos Tselios will have a new role as CYA Defense Trainer. Nikos brings a blend of both skill and knowledge into this position and can utilize his experience to dedicate his time across ALL CYA teams. CYA will be implementing systems for all teams to learn and use.  These are the same systems that are being used in the USHL, colleges and the NHL.  Nikos will be instrumental in implementing the defensive aspects of the system.  Over his playing career, Nikos played in the OHL, was a two-time selection for the USA WJC team earning a silver medal, was an NHL first round draft pick and spent 8 years playing professional level hockey.  We look forward to having “Coach Nik” make significant improvements with all players at CYA.

Andy Contois will now be the Head Coach for the 05 CYA Bantam Major team

Andy has been the assistant coach for the Central Illinois Flying Aces USHL team for the past two seasons.  In his first two years as Coach, he helped the NAHL Brookings Blizzard make the playoffs both years, seeing a nine-point improvement from year one to year two. As a player, Andy spent time in the NAHL, USHL and played D1 hockey at Northern Michigan.  After college, Andy spent seven years playing professionally before retiring as a player and transitioning to coaching.

Chase Fuchs will be Associate Coach for the Bantam Major team.

Chase has spent the last 2 seasons as a coach and director of scouting for the USHL Central Illinois Flying Aces. His first season coaching was with Mount Royal University in Calgary and then 2 seasons with Adrian College before heading to the USHL.  During his playing days, Chase was a defenseman for Clarkson University and upon graduation transitioned into coaching.

With the additions of these talented coaches, who have not only played at the top junior hockey level, but who have recently coached, scouted and drafted players for the USHL and NAHL, CYA is incredibly excited about these strategic changes.  CYA remains committed to helping our players move on to the next level, and more importantly become better players.

Congratulations to our impressive coaching staff. We look forward to a great season!

Sincerely,

CYA Hockey Operations
