CYA is proud to announce that defenseman Sydney Sorkin has committed to Harvard University beginning with the 2017-18 season. The strong blueliner is very excited about this incredible opportunity. “Having the opportunity to play for one of the top hockey programs and study at one of the top academic schools in the country is a privilege,” said Sorkin.
"I would like to thank Hockey Director John Cimba and the entire CYA coaching staff who over the years have supported me and helped me grow as a player. I would also like to thank my teammates. The friendships I have made with them will last beyond my hockey career. Most importantly, I would like to thank my parents. I could not have achieved this without your support and commitment.”
Sorkin has two seasons remaining with CYA U-19. “Sydney is in a fantastic place in her development as a player,” commented Cimba. “I strongly believe that Syd’s work ethic both on and off the ice will bring her to an entirely new level over the next two seasons. Harvard is not only getting a hard worker but they are also getting a great young woman and an even better teammate. Syd is not only a very coachable player that has come through this organization but her dedication to her team is second to none. We are very happy for the Sorkin family and look forward to watching Syd continue to develop and play in the future.”
