Dr. Edward Forman of Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) has teamed up with the Chicago Young Americans AAA Hockey club (CYA) in an effort to provide CYA’s boys and girls teams with the professional sports medicine care. Dr. Forman will provide sports-related consultations, exams and x-rays during the 2010-2011 seasons. In addition to these services, he will assist in consultation to players, coaches, staff and families associated with CYA.
Dr. Edward Forman began his "hockey career" as a Youth Hockey AA and AAA player in the Chicago area and spent time in a US Olympic training camp. He then went on to play college hockey at Indiana University followed by 25 years of coaching from Mites to the Collegiatee level. His hockey highlights include coaching three Illinois High School state championship teams. Now with 15+ years of Orthopaedic Surgery experience, including an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Harvard University, he is ready to provide support to one of his life long passions, hockey.
“It makes natural sense for me to partner with CYA for the upcoming season, since I share the same passion for the game as the players and want to keep them healthy and on the ice”, said Dr. Edward Forman, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for IBJI. “With more than 25 years experience in the hockey arena, I feel adequately trained to work with this talented group of hockey professionals and can communicate injury related information on a more personal level.”
